"I was born in a small village in a countryside in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. This is where the U.S bombed the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong supply lines from 1969 to 1973. 

On April 17, 1975, Khmer Rouge took control of Cambodia. They forced the entire urban population into the countryside to create a classless agrarian society. During this regime, Cambodia became a killing field. About 2 million people died. I was fortunate that I survived. 

In late 1983, I escaped Cambodia to seek a better life in America. I sought refuge in a refugee camp in Thailand. After 4 years of struggle for survival amidst poor living conditions, unsafe housing, a lack of reliable access to food and clean water, and limited sanitation, the U.S Immigration made my wish come true. They granted me a visa to start a new life in America. I arrived in Seattle on July 6, 1987. This was where my new life began. 

I graduated from Cleveland High School in 1991. While attending college, I took an on-call job as a medical interpreter at Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed). I interpreted for Cambodian patients. I also interpreted for Chinese patients because I speak one of the Chinese dialects called Chao Jo. 

In 2012, PacMed hired me to work full time at US Family Health Plan as an inside Sales Representative. I provided assistance to Field Marketing Rep, briefed TRICARE beneficiaries about US Family Health Plan, mail information packet, and taking enrollment.

In September of 2025, I transitioned within the team to a Sales and Marketing Representative. I always put myself in other people’s shoes. As a Sales and Marketing Representative, I will do my best to understand your perspective by imagining myself in your situation with compassion and empathy because I believe that treating people the way you want to be treated is priceless.
